WAIBARAPA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. The Wairampa A. and P. Society's show opened at CarteTton yesterday in miserable weather. The entries totalled 1411, as against 1550 last year. Cattle, iheep and dogs showed increases, while there was a falling off in the entries for competitions, horses, butter-fat, pigs, poultry, produce and home industries. Championships were awarded as follows:—Shorthorn bull, W. C. Buchanan; Shorthorn cow, W. T. Williams; Holstein. bull, W. J. Lovelock; Holstein cow, W. J. Lovelock; Ayrshire .bull, Porirua Mental Asylum; Ayrshire cow, T. H. Colp-. man; Jersey bull, W. H. and A. E. Booth; Jersey cow, E. Eagle; Lincoln ram and ewe, Mrs. J. D. Ormond; Rom*ey ram, W. H. Booth; Komney ewe, E. Wallen; Border Leicester ram, Joseph Dowaite; Border Leicester ewe," Mrs. J. D. Ormond; English Leicester ram; Nelson Bros.; English Leicester ewe, Slack 8r05..; Southdown ram,' Nelson Bros.; Shropshire ram, Peter Cooper; Shropshire ewe, A. V Coll is. Nelson Bros, won the Quibell Cup for. most points in sheep, and also won it last year, and now take possession. TIMARU. • Timaru, Last Night. The Timaru A. and P. show opened today in unfavorable weather, steady rain falling all the afternoon. There is no sign of it clearing for people's day tomorrow. The entries are slightly over 1000, somewhat less than last year. Today the sheep and light harness horses were judged. The chief prize takers were: Merinos, F. H. Smith; English Leicester, E, Kelland and D. Grant (Windcheater); Border Leicester, Grant (Timaru), J. Dowthaite; Lincolns, N.Z. and A.L. Co., A. Withell; Romney, D. Grant, P. Stockholme; Shropshire, R. ?arry, R. Smith, Ryeland, J. Withell, Gellatly, J. Stringfellow. In buggy and gig horses R. H. Bissett (Southland, formerly of Winchester) took four out Of five prizes with a team he brought 320 miles. The polo class Was a' good one. Implements were lacking as usual.
