Wlien investigating the ruins of the Domus Flavia on the Palatine, Professor Boni discovered the almost intact pavement of the dining hall of the Emperor Domitian. who ruled from Sl-Oo A.D. The pavement covers an area of 1000 square metres, and is composed of Oriental granite, with a border of Xuraidian marble and other African stones. and a remarkable arrangement of pillars, raising it so as to permit seating underneath.
