FIRES.
A HOUSE DESTROYED. fly Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. A house in Grey Lynn, owned by Mrs. Brigltam. of Gisborne, was destroyed by fire last night, during the absence of the tenants. Porteous and his wife', who had just occupied the house, were actually removing the last of their furniture into the building. The screams of the children attracted attention, and they were removed without injury. A COTTAGE DESTROYED. Timaru, Last Night. A cottage of five rooms, owned -by E. Brown, and occupied by Jas. Duff. at Temuka was destroyed by fire at midnight. Next to nothing was saved. The insurances on the cottage were £275 in the Commercial Union, and the contents £l'oO in the New Zealand Office.
