NEW ZEALAND'S ARMY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. General Godley stated in an interview that training under the new defence scheme would start at the end of this month. There would be a force of ■JcJ.'OO.O in the Dominion, while the strength would be brought up to 30,000 in four years. Encampments would be held between Christmas and the end of .May, but the sites and definite dates have not yet been fixed. AN ABANDONED CHILD. Dnnedin. Last. Night. A female child, only a few hours old. was found in an outhouse at North B-il-chitha at 7 a.m. to-day. Its condition showed that it had been neglected a': birth. The child was in a very weak state, but late this afternoon there appeared to be a possibility that it wouid survive. So far there is no clue as to its parentage. THE ACSTUALfAN CABLE. I'nvprcargill.
