Wool.—A* the stiles most seoureds - were offered, and there was good competition, but some withdrawals. Following are the prices realised for the fleece portion of the clips named: Tarn- j tahi, top price 11 l / 2 d, average 10% d; Hukarerc, lid and 10% d; Kaihkau, lid and 9%d. There were catalogued 122,- ' 937 bides, and 106,381 sold. Wheat and Flour. —The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 8,365,000 quarters, for the Continent 2.460,000 quarters, Atlantic shipments 150,000 quarters, Pacific 101.000 quarters. ' The total shipments to Europe for { the week amounted to 1.145.000 quarters, including Argentine 60,000 quarters, Russian 156,000 quarters, Danublan 279,000 quarters, Indian 57,000 quarters, and Australian 55,000 quarters.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram, under date London October 7- (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot): 'Mutton.—The market is quiet but steady. Stocks of New Zealand mutton on hand are light. Canterbury 4%d, North Island 3%d. Lamb.—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Canterbury 5%d, other than Canterbury sd. Beef.—The market'is dull. New Zealand hinds 3%d, New Zealand fores 2'/>d.
Butter.—The market is firm, with an upward tendency, and general and native demand. Dani'h 148s, Siberian 128s, Australian 1345.
Cheese.—The market is quiet but firm Canadian 70s Od.
Hemp—The market is somewhat steadier with good demand. New Zealand good fair on spot £l9 15s, fair grade £lB 15s, fair current Manila £2O. October-December shipments New Zealand good fair £2O, fair grade £l9. fair current Manila £2O ss. The output from Manila for the week was 19,000 bales.
Cocksfoot. Seed.—Tile market is very firm, with light stocks on hand. It is impossible to give any quotation. ■Wheat.—The market is somewhat steadier. New Zealand long-berried on spot, ex granary (per quarter of 4901b.), 355; short-berried 34?. Oats.-—General and active demand (a large supply). New Zealand oats, short sparrawbills, ex granarv, ->n spot (per quarter of 3841b.), 225: Danish (per quarter of 32011).). 19s <>d. Beans.—Market firm with an improved demand. Now Zealand f.a.q. (new crop), per 5041b.. 34s fid. Peas.—The market is -tead-y. with vow good demand. New Zealand partridge, per 5041b., 40s. Wool.—A firm market for merinos. the market a shade weaker for crossbreds.
