SUPREME COURT
PALMERSTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. The Supreme Court was occupied today in hearing the case of Maurice A. Harding against James J. Inncs, executor of the will of William Waugh, deceased, a claim for compensation or refund of C 1324, purchase money for land. The land purcluised was supposed to be 310 acres, but on survey it was found to be considerably short, owing to the encroachment of t*he Manawatu river. The Court sat till 9.30 to-night, and adjourned till 10 a.m. to-morrow to allow the Chief Justice to examine the land in tire morning.
BANKRUPT GOES TO GAOL. tiisbornc, Wednesday. William McMurray, convicted of breaches of the bankruptcy laws, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, without hard labor, on a charge of concealing and removing property, and for not keeping proper books, to two months' imprisonment, without hard labor, the sentences to be concurrent. The judge said he had taken into consideration the prisoner's age and the fact that he had already been four months in gaol.
