CANTERBURY BEATS SOUTHLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The nineteenth interprovincial match, Southland v. Canterbury, played to-day, ended in a win for the visitors by 12 points to 9, Southland were favorites, but the forwards were not lup to expectations, «.nd the backs tacked indifferently. Canterbury's line-kicking was of great profit to the visitors. Canterbury got to the end of the first spell with a lead of nine to three. Southland woke up a bit in the second half and equalised matters. Then Canterbury at-, tacked strongly and scored, and 'by good line-kicking held Southland at bay till no side was called. Canterbury, on the whole, had the better of the game and deserved the win.
