HOCKEY.
LADIES' TOURNAMENT. The Taranaki ladies' team, whicli is to take part in the annual tournament to he held in Wellington, leaves by the mail train this morning. Two of the team, Misses B. Andrews (Ti'korangi) and King (Hawera), are unable to travel, the former not being able to get the necessary leave, and the latter being on the sick list. Misses Andrews (Hawera) and A. Fryday (Stratford) will fill the vacancies. CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL The play-off for the provincial championship (between Inglowood and Stratford), which was to Imvc -taken place ail New Plymouth to-<kty, has been postponed. The teams cauld not agree as to the ground, so a special meeting of the association has been called for Monday night to decide the question as to where the match is to be played. AUCKLAND v. TARANAKI. Mr. J. E. Avery, secretary of the Taramaki Hockey Association, received word from the Auckland Association yesterday morning to the effect that the northern team will play Taranaki at New Plymouth on Thursday, September 21. This is probably the only representative match to be played here, so the followers of the game will anxiously await this date.
