COLLAPSE OF A GRANDSTAND
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE INJURED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 28, 1.5 a.m. New York, August 27. A grandstand collapsed at the Elgin (Illinois) automobile contest. Thousands were involved in the accident, and three hundred were injured. A panic started, and the police and soldiers used their clubs on the terrified people, who streamed over the course in front of the racing cars. Many were injured, and may die.
