THE LAND HUNGER
KEEN DEMAND IN SOUTHLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The desire to go on the land and the avidity with which available land Is sought were evidenced by the demand for small worked-out sawmill areas submitted to ballot at the Lands Office today. For fifteen sections close upon 600 applications were received, the majority being those of Southland people not possessing land. Much excitement prevailed during the course of the ballot.
