THE AGRICULTURAL HALL.
SOCIAL AT BELL BLOCK. The interest that is taken by the settlers of Bell Block in the efecti.m of the Taranaki Agricultural Society's new hall was evidenced last evening, wiwn a social was held in the Bell Block Hall under the patronage of the North lavanaki Hunt Club. The committee .vonccd very hard to make the function r success, and in congratulating thein on their efforts, we must not refrain from giving the secretary (Mr. J. R. iI •11 j a word of praise. Ten tables only were occupied by euchre players, most of the young folk preferring the dancing. When the count up arrived .it was found that Mrs. Street was the successful lady with thirteen games out of fifteen played. Messrs. ,T, Smith and L. Holmes tied' for the gentlemen's prize with eleven games each, Mr. Smith proving the winner in the play-off. The dancing was carried on from eight o'clock until the early hours of the morning to excellent music supplied by Miss Crozier's orchestra. The floor was crowded on each occasion, and everything went off right joyfully. During the evening the following contributed a programme:—Miss Boshop (gong)., Mr. Cole (comic song, encored). Mr. H. T. Joll (recitation), Mr. J. Lovell (comic song) Mr. Preston («ong). Extras were played by Mrs. Monk (piano) and Mrs. Rutherford (violin) and Mrs. Bishop.
