ROYAL PICTUKIiS AND OUCHESTRA. Thero was «, good attendance at the Theatre Royal last night to witness the new programme which is being shown for the second time. Among the present splendid selection are some linely conceived dramatic stories, including "Vindicated," "The Bolted Door," "Merchant of Venice" and •Inherited Taint." There were several other attractive films in the programme. Pathe's latest Australian Cassette showing the Arnst-Pearce boat race for the world's stilling championship, rowed on the Paramatta on August j, was well received. Among the many comic pictures are ''A Bridegroom's Dilemma," "A Masterpiece," "Trying to Grow," and "That Old Cannon," a side-splitting- comic. The lastnamed shows an old and enthusiastic collector of bric-a-brac with whom Jane has elected to take service buying an old-fashioned cannon of the mitrailleuse type, lie explains to his interested servant how it was fired in the old days, and during his absence .lane has the diabolical idea of pointing the gun into the street and mining from it a shower of missiles upon the heads of the passersby, with results that can easilv be imagined. The new programme will be shown for the last time this evening, and to-morrow at the ••Sweets" matinee a complete change will be screened, and in the ovening the Royal Pictures and Orchestra will be under the patronage of the Napier, Balmevston North and New Plymouth High School bovs, there already being eighty seats hooked for this party alone.
SAUNDERS' PICTURES. Tlie brilliant progrnmme that has been shown in Whiteley Hall the past two nights will be on view to the Waitara. public to-night. The patrons of St. .lolin's Hall can congratulate themselves on the opportunity, as it is seldom the public have an opportunity to view such a magnificent spectacular'array on any one programme as this series' embrace. "Hamlet" alone is worth many times the price of admission, to say nothing of three American star dramas and the most glorious and entrancing scenic ever produced, "The Eternal City." The comics are uproarious outbursts of exquisite comedy. Altogether the programme is unapproachable as a collection of the highest in kinematography.
