HIS SUPPOSED ARREST. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Perth, August 14. A Russian student who is working on a farm at Kellerberm has been arrested. He is supposed to be "Peter, the Painter," who is wanted in connection with the Houndsditch murders. He recently gave evidence against another Russian who was charged with having stolen a gun. After having been imprisoned, the other declared that the informer was Peter,
AUTHORITIES RETICENT. Received 14, 8.30 p.m. Perth, August 14. The Court was crowded when August Maren, alleged to be " Peter, the Painter," was charged with falsely swearing. The case was adjourned. The authorities refuse any information, although they are communicating with the authorities at Scotland Yard.
