MOTOR CARS COLLIDE.

IN THE MANAWATU GORGE. By Ttflegraph —Press Association. Woodville, Thursday. There was a miraculous escape from a serious accident in the Manawatu Gorge, at mid-day yesterday. Two motor-cars ran into each other at ft place in the middle of the Gorge called Barney's Point. One car belonged to S. Bolton and (the otlieT to Osborne Lilley, Pahiatua. The former was returning from Palmereton and was being driven by Felix Bolton, and' with him in the car were his mother and two sisters. The other car contained Mr. and Mrs. Lilley, Miss Allen and a lady from Ghristchurch. The cars met at a sharp corner in the road, where there was no chance of passing, and to avoid going over the side they had to bump into each other. Mrs. Bolton and her daughters were thrown out of the ear over the side of the bank, the former rolling down some distance before she caught hold of a bush. In the other car, the lady from Christchurch got her nose injured. Strange to relate, that was 'the only damage sustained by the partv. Both cars were badly injured, and it took nearly till midnight to effect repairs.
