Poverty Bay Rugby Union passed a resolution urging the New Zealand Union, in accordance with rule 6 of the conditions governing the Ranfurly Shield match, immediately to fix a date for the challenge match Poverty Bay v. Auckland. Members expressed indignation at the manner in which their challenge, sent in three or four months ago, had been ignored and a date-given for t match with the South Auckland Rugby Union in preference to theirs.
'Mr. A. L. Humphries, who was appointed one of the selectors of the North Island team, finds that he is unable to accept the position. It is probaible that Mr. D. J.
