ROYAL PICTURES. Last night a very large audience was present at. the Theatre Royal. The remarkably line series of Coronation pictures, which is undoubtedly the best yet screened (before the public of New Plymouth, and the reduced prices should prove a great draw. The management are to be congratulated upon the perfect ' pictures now being screened, and the removal of the operating box downstairs was a good move on their part, judging from last night's excellent productions. In all there is no less than four thousand feet of Coronation' film, which occupies practically the whole of the second half of the programme. To-night a further batch of fresh subjects is to be added, including dramas entitled "The Points- , man," "The Masked Ball," and "A " Mexican Legend." Among the scenica to be presented i» "Tunis and Ruins ttf 1 . Carthage." The comic portion includes '"The Affected Young Lady," "A Sweet Tempered Wife," and "Max Hypnotised." SAUNDERS' PICTURES.
There was again a very good audience last night to see the current series of pictures for the last time, to-night being the complete change to-night. Mr. Saunders excels in the brilliancy of .his projection of the pictures on the screen, the comparatively short "throw" making the illumination extra brilliant, ior his modern cinematograph is capable of projecting his pictures clearly, rividly, and' steadily in a theatre many timss larger. Apart altogether from the comie and dramatic films which had the audience from time to time in their grip, great interest attached to "The Investiture of the Prince of Wales with the Order of the Garter," and the ski championship of the world, the skill of the competitors, shod with their skis, or long shed-like footgear in hurdling and alighting safely on the ice from a height of fifty feet, causing unending surprise. Scenes and episodes from Marie Corellrg "Thelma" were another very fine series of pictures, and the industrial films were also good, particularly those depicting the copper industry in Spain. The programme for to-night will include the Coronation pictures, "The Wedding Bell," a story of the danger of goods made in sweetshops, the Roya.l Mint, 'Survival of the Fittest," "The Lost Ribbon," marble quarries, capturing bear cubs, "The nmv Stenographer," Pathe Gazette, and a host of the latest films.
