Aldershot is devastated, a thousand acres being ablaze, and Bannock Chase, a historic mansion, has been destroyed. INTENSE HEAT IN GERMANY. MANY FATALITIES. Received 24, 9.30, p.m. Berlin, July 24. There have been eight days of intense heat, the thermometer registering 104 deg. in the shade on Sunday. Throughout Germany many fatalities have occurred. Ninety-six grenadiers were overcome during a parade, and many were taken to the hospital. HEAT AND HAIL. GREAT DAMAGE IN ITALY. Received 24, 9.30 p.m. Rome, July 24. While the thermometer registered 91 deg. shade temperature a tremendous hailstorm occurred. Part of the zinc roof of a railway station was torn off, and a column of "Victory" in the Exhibition Grounds collapsed.
