DISASTROUS FOREST FIRES.
TOWNS WIPED OUT. MANY PEOPLE PERISH. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright New York, July 12. Terrific forest fires are raging in Northern Michigan. The twin towns of Aosable and Oscada have been wiped out, and ai least 75 people have perished, while 1800 arc homeless. The damage so for is estimated at a million sterling. Ottawa, July 12.
Thirty have perished in forest fires in Northern Ontario. The towns of Cochrane, south of Porcupine, and Pottsville have been destroyed, and Tisialc- half destroyed. Kelso has been deserted, the inhabitants seeking refuge in streams. Tt is believed the casualties will be several hundreds. New York, July 12. The heat continues. Three hundred persons have died in ton days. All heat records have been broken. It is reported from Philadelphia that 32 hare died from heat.
