The Warwickshire County Council has directed inquiries to be made as to why Mr. Churchill, Home Secretary, intervened to prevent the service of a warrant upon a woman for fraud as she left Reading prison. Mr. Churchill's only excuse was that he considered further persecutions of this woman were undeserved. •Tames Davey, aged 26, has been arrested for burglary at Arreton, Hampshire. He has ten previous convictions, the last being one of three years' penal servitude in April. 1910, but Mr. Churchill ordered his release a month ago.
