SEVEN DAYS' STARVATION
MAN FALLS DOWN MINING SHAFT.
By. Cable. —Press Association^—Copyright Received: 9,' 5.5 p.m. Sydney, July 9.
A man named; Parr was rescued from a mining shaft at Wylong after being seven days waterless and eight days foodless. He fell thirty-five feet, but as the bottom was soft/ he was uninjured. His attempts to ascend were unavailing. He lost his voice for want of water, and was unable to attract attention. On the seventh day rain fell, and he regained his voice. By constant shouting he attracted attention and assistance arrived. Beyond weakness he is little the worse for his misadventure.
