THE PREMIER'S BARONETCY
[ DISCUSSED BY A HARBOR BOARD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurcb, Last Night. The Baronetcy conferred on Sir Joseph Ward was discussed briefly meeting of the Lyttelton Harbor Board to-day. The chairman (Mr. H. Friedlander) said that on behalf of the board he had sent a cable of congratulation to Sir Joseph, and had received a reply thanking the bopd. He moved that his action lie confirmed. Mr. R. Moore said that he did not approve of the issue of hereditary titles to people holding positions such as Sir Joseph Ward held in this country, and Air. J. J. Dougall took up the same view. It would have been all right il Sir Joseph Ward had intended to stop in England, but he could see no credit to the country in the decoration. Mr. A. Kaye said that apart from their individual political views, they must recognise that Sir Joseph Ward had carried out his duties exceedingly well. ° ' I The motion was carried.
