The streets were flooded, and business was at a standstill. There was a panic on several river steamers, but it is believed no fatalities occurred. New York. July 4.

A scorching temperature is btill prevailing in the eastern sections of Canada and the United States. Twentyseven have died in New York since Sunday, and fifteen in Philadelphia, from heat.
