INDUSTRIAL PROSPERITY.
GREAT DEMAND FOR CLOTHES. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright. Received 5, 7 p.m. Sydney, July 5. Before the Shortage of Labor Commission, representatives of several tailorinfi firms gave evidence that trade was seriously hampered owing to the scarcity of hands. Much business was refused in consequence. One witness said that in recent years there had been a large increase in general prosperity, and the people were wearing more and better clothes. Since the introduction of federation and the imposition of duties, industries had made great strides. New industries were rapidly springing up. Even with a largely increased labor supply there was no fear of over-production for the next ten years. . ,
