ALLEGED MEAT RING.
. SHIFTING THE BLAME. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright. Received 5, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, July 5. A deputation of carcase butchers waited on Mr. Flowers and denied the existence of a meat ring acting in restraint of trade. They had not endeavored to corner the slaughtering space, as alleged by a former deputation. , The speakers declared that the rumored American Meat Trust was behind the competition that was endeavoring to squeeze tliem out.
Mr. Flowers, in reply, stated that every deputation blamed somebody else for the meat trust. He promised enquiry into the matter.
