AUCKLAND STREET ROW.
"AM AWFUL UPROAR." By Telegraph—Press Association, Auckland, Monday. As the result of a street row inl Queen street on Saturday night, arising f out of tlic arrest of a drunken man, a large body of police were required to clear the streets. During th& might the police made sixteen arrests for drunkenness, resisting the police, and assaulting a constable. At the Police Court thw morning George Rowe was charged with being disorderly while drunk. The police stated that accused caused a Serious disturbance, and a crowd of four thousand gathered, and for some time """ there was an awful uproar. Frederick Marton, alleged to be the ringleader ill an attempt to release Rowe, was chaTged with using obscene language. The accused were each sentenced to three montlis imprisonment with hard labor. Two others who figured prominently in the melee were fined £2 each.
