A RUN ON THE BANKS. By Cable—Pr«es Amacmtatm— Copyright Sydney, June 30. The Banks are having to cash large numbers of notes, owing to the impression which is gaining ground that they will not be worth their face value after the end of June, when a heavy tax on new issues will operate. It is believed that the idea was started by unscrupulous persons in country districts, who are buying the £li notes from ignorant farmers at 15s to ~rSs.
