A motion was also passed urging the Government to give effect to the New Zealand University Senate motion in favor of the establishment of a Faculty of Theology and conferring degrees in divinity. AN INTERESTING POINT. Auckland, June 27. 'v An interesting point was raised in a ( case that came before Mr. Kettle, S.M., t in the Magistrate's Court to-day. A. P. c Miller claimed the sum of 12s"(id from r J. E. Mortimer, alleging that it was due s for rent, the defendant having left r without giving notice. Mortimer said 6 that he had given notice to leave on a c certain day. but stayed in -for another t week. This the magistrate held to be d an abandonment of notice, and gave i judgment for the plaintiff for °the f amount claimed and 9s costs.
