ARMED POLICE ON THE ALERT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Amsterdam, June 25. Owing to the seamen's strike, the police, armed with carbines, are watching the departure of vessels. LASCAR CREWS OPPOSED. London, June 25. Mr. Havelock Wilson, secretary of the Seamen's Union, alleges that there is indignation on the part of members of the union at the action of the Admiralty in chartering several ships manned with Lascar crews for conveying guests to the review at Portsmouth. Two Australian parliamentarians informed the Sailors' Union that if a ship was manned by a coolie crew they would not go aboard. 10,000 SEAMEN IDLE. Received 27, 1 a.m. London, June 20. Ten thousand seamen are idle at Hull.
