Wellington, Friday. < The Maitai, which arrived at Wei. lington from San Francisco yesterday, brought news of Sir Robert Stout, who is inquiring into certain allegations as to the administrations of the Cook Islands, and trying Wigmore, who is charged with the murder of a nativo. The Chief Justice has arrived at Rarotonga, and the inquiry has but_ is not open to the press or publii. It is reported that persons responsßbk for the charges forming the subject! of the inquiry have declined to giv* evidence. Sir Robert Stout nevertheless is proceeding with the inquiry. The trial of Wigmore was fixed for June 16.
