A gas explosion at Conway's bakery, Fifzruy, wrecked the buiming, the windows being blown across the street, and aujoinin« houses damaged. Residents, thinking it was an earthquake, rushed into the road in night attire. Curiously enough, Conway's wife, who was sleeping right over the centre of the explosion, was not awakened, though a largo hole was blown right under her bed.
