LAND BALLOT.
A land ballot was conducted yesterday at the Crown Lands Office for sections in the Totoro, Waro, Opaku, Opunakc, and Taurakawa survey district*. That the "earth hunger" has not been satiated was shown by the large number of applicants for sections. In some cases applicants drawing the .lucky marble lost their opportunity owing to failure to pay the necessary deposit. The successful applicants were as follows:
Section 1, block 3, Totoro, 104 acre*.— Wn). Innes, Masterton. Nineteen applicants. Section 9, block 4, Totoro, 175 acres.— John Henry Bennett, Kawhata (East Coast). Six applications. Section 2, block 12, 048 acres.— Allan F. McAlpine (Christehurch). Seven applications.
Section 4, block 3, Totoro, 164% acres. Eustace Transom (Pukehinau). Twenty-three applications. Sections 80 and 89, block 10, Pouotu, 214 Vi acres.—Robert Chas. Lay (Puniwhakau). Forty-three applications. Section 30, block 2, Opunake, 3 roods. —Wm. Chas. Gatcnby (Te Kiri). Only applicant. Section 9, block 12, Mimi, 511 acres.— Jack Yarrall (Maryborough). Seven applications. Section 5, block 10, Opaku-, 7TB acre*. —May Victoria Egan (Wellington). Two applications. Section 9, block 1, Pouatu, 1090 acres. —Wm. Chas. Brown (Belmont). Seven applications. Section 1, Hock 5, Taurakawa, 904 acres.—Ashley Campbell Gibb (Douglas). Two applications. Section 10, block 13, Waro, 1013 acres. —Louis Roy Davies (Stratford). Eleven applications. Section 2, Mock 4, Totoro, 194 acres* 3 roods 22 perches.—Abraham Arthur Furniss (Waitui). Sixteen applications. Section 8, block 4, Totoro, 180 acres. —Wm. Henry Topp (Mangatoki). Seven applications. Section 2, block 5, Taurakawa, 912 acres. Frederick John Duckwortfc (Moeroa). Four applications.
