Mr Frank Tnrnbull, of Wangamii, has been appointed second lieutenant in B Company of the Wellington Territorials.

Mr. Martin Kennedy will act as deputy-chairman of the Bank of Xew Zealand while Mr. Beauchanip is absent from the Dominion.

Constable Xolan arrived in Xew Plymouth on Monday night on transfer from Wangamii, to fill the place vacated by e.v-Constable Rowlands, resigned.

Mr. R. Lcjgh Hunt, manager of. the Jtew Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., Wellington, arnyed by Hie express train last night on a business visit.

Mr. William Wallis. who arrived in Wellington in is.i" in the ship Southern Cross, died at Wellington nn Monday aged eighty-three years. The deceased' who was horn in Koyston. England was a builder by trade, and prior to coming to Xow Zealand went to the Crimea as foreman for an English firm in the erection of military hospitals and barracks. He leaves nine children and thirty-three grandchildren.
