THE ROCCII WEATHER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The rain appears to be tapering off. The total rainfall along the coast was a little over iy., inches. The rivers are, in Hood, but not seriously. NEW FORM OF WHEAT DISEASE. Timaru, Last Night. Wheat in store from the coast farms was found to contain earcocklc or purples, a mischievous disease, due to an eel worm, apparently not observed here before.
IRISH HOME RULE FUND. Palmcrston Xortli, Last Night. The committee in connection with the recent visit of the Irish National delegates, held a filial meeting. The total amount raised for (he Home Rule Fund in Palmerston was £155, less £ls expenses. Levin and Foxton were worked from Palmerston and realised £55, Shannon about £25. and Feilding £B4, so that the district contributes over £.'i(K). WAITII MINERS. Wellington, Last Night. The position of the Wailii miners, whose demands have been refused hy the gold-mining companies, was considered yesterdav and to-day by the executive of the New Zealand Federation of Labor. Deliberations will go on again to-morrow. .Meantime, Mr. R. Scrapie, Federation organiser, says there is nothing to communicate to the Press.
