THE HIGH SCHOOL.
MR. E. DOCKRILL REPLIES. Mr. E. Dockrill writes to the editor as follows: Sir,—l notice that "Critic," iu your issue of Friday, says: "Mr. DockrilPs affection for the school was once again stirred up." I plead guilty to this charge, as I am confident the High School has saved me hundreds of pounds in the education of my son. When he left and entered.the St. Andrew's College in Dublin, at the age of 10 years, I have absolute proof that he was as advanced educationally as the best pupils of that age, who had been trained and taught there for years previously. As St. Andrew's College stands on a par with* the best Irish schools, and its pupils achieve the highest positions at university examinations, I think "Critic" will admit the pecuniary advantage it has been to me to be able to get such anj education for my son without the ex-| pense of sending him to a school away j from home, As the teachers which gave the above favorable results in my case,' and in dozens of other cases whichM could enumerate, are still at the school, I can see no reason why the same good work should not continue. Anyhow, there has been a larger increase of pupils this year than the school had had before, and I don't think this can be regarded as a want of popularity.
The parents of the lad who won the Bayly Memorial Scholarship wish us to state that the lad was a scholar for two years at the local High School, and before that was at the West End School.
