PALMERSTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The Supreme Court opened to-day before Judge Chapman. Wilson Howard was found guilty of receiving a sheep dog knowing it to have been dishonestly come by. The jury added a recommend; ation to mercy. Prisoner will be sentenced tomorrow morning. Wilfred Marr, of Marton, charged with unlawJutly carnally knowing a girl under 16 years of age, was found notg u«ty. Accused liad married the girl since the lower Court proceedings, and she refused to give evidence against him.
TIMARU SESSIONS. Timaru, Last Night. ' In the last and most serious of three criminal cases dealt with this session, a charge of getting fire to wheat stacks, of the value of £7O, the jury found a verdict of not guilty, accused's account indicating that it was "an accident. IXVERCARGILL SESSIONS. Invercargill, Last Night. The charge of arson against Patrick Pevcreaux resulted in a verdict of guilty. Sentence was deferred. Thomas James Heald. who had pleaded guilty to p charge of breaking and entering at South Hillend, was admitted to probation for twelve months. On similar ehnrges, Edward Mitchell was committed for reformatory treatment.
