Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Craig, who formerly lived in Christchurch and Timaru, met with success at the Cannes (south of France) Golf Club's spring meeting. Mrs. Craig, who is a daughter of the late Rev. Henry Glasson, formerly of Avonside, won the Grand Duke Michael of Russia gold enamel tea service, worth £SO, and Mr. Craig the Grand Duke's gold cigarette case for men, also worth £SO. It is the first time on Tecord that a husband and wife have secured at the same meeting these celebrated prizes, for which there arc always many competitors of all nationalities. The Tarahua Club commenced a mixed foursomes match yesterday. It will be concluded to-morrow afternoon. Playing on the Ngamotu course on Wednesday, McCormack did 76 for the 18 holes. The professional record for the course, is held by Martin, the late Sydney professional. D. G. Soutar, the well-known Sydney professional, has written asking the Ngamotu Club if it would be prepared to arrange for an exhibition match here. The secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association wired on Wednesday as follows: "Sydney wires asking if New Zealand clubs will guarantee Vardon £2OO for three weeks' tour New Zealand about October. Reply quickly what your district will guarantee."
