WATERTIGHT COMPARTMENT SAVES THE SHIP. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, May 24. The Cunard liner Ivcrnia struck the Dannt Rock in a fog and was beached in Queenstown harbor. A large hole was made in the steamer's bottom, but the watertight bulkheads instantaneouslj closed and thus confined the water to the fore part, where there is 25 feet of water. There was no panic, as the efficers reassured the passengers, who numbered 728.
