Empire Day was celebrated in the majority of the elementary schools of England and Wales by saluting the Unioh Jack, and the cadet corps paraded. The King received a great number of telegrams from all parts of the world. The King and Queen attended the League of Mercy's Empire Day garden party at "White Lodge, Richmond. CORONATION INTERFERES WITH FESTIVITIES. Received 20, 1 a.m. London, May 25. Empire Day was less generally celebrated than usual. Many of the patriotic festivities were postponed owing to the Coronation. CELEBRATIONS IN CANADA.

Received 20, 1 a.m. Ottawa, May 25. Empire Day was celebrated in Canada by sports. There were several boating fatalities, four being drowned at pegIN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, May 25. Mr. Deakin, in an Empire Day speech, declared that there were two alternatives to adopt. One was the creation of a world-wide tribunal to enforce its decrees on all people. If that were not possible they must depend upon themselves, at the cost of war, to prevent the Empire tumbling into ruins. The complete efficiency of defence was necessary for their existence.
