AUCKLAND WINTER SHOW. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The cheese championship shield at the Auckland winter show was won by the Greytown Dairy Co. with 279.83 points. Ngaere Dairy Co. was second with 274.08 points. The butter championship was won by Matukana Dairy Co., and the Weddell cup by the Cambridge Dairy Co. y.M.C.A. CAMPAIGN. Wanganui, Last Night. The ten days' campaign for funds for the Y.M.C.A. closed on Saturday, £3OOO being'realised. This, with £IBOO for the site and £750 for three years' administration expense's, brings the total in hand to £5550. Further contributions are expected. GIRL LIFE RESCUERS. Wellington, Last Night. On Saturday afternoon, the Hon, G. Fowlds. Acting-Minister for Defence, presented two members of the GSrls Peace Scouts, Irene Simpson and Daisy Weaver, with gilt medals and certificates from the Chief Dominion Scout for promptitude and bravery in rescuing life.

A conference of delegates of local councils was held on Saturday to discuss the mutter of auctioneers' license fees, which, it was thought, should he paid to the whole district. No decision was arrived.at, except to hold another conference. In regard to small birds, the counties agreed to reduce the price paid for old birds from Is to Od a dozen, fid for eggs and young birds as before, 'but no county was bound to buy any. It was said that the birds had not de« crenscd. and many said that many had heen paid for twice over through supplying poisoned wheat and paying for poisoned birds. Armstrong, all three Oppositionists, are mentioned as probable candidates for Geraldine at next election.
