A DETECTIVES' HAUL.
BURGLAR ARRESTED AND GOODS RECOVERED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Detectives Lewis, Andrews and Cameron yesterday accomplished a smart preceof work in the recovery of a great quantity of valuables, the property of private individuals and of the Wellington City Council. For some time past, burglary after burglary had been reported to the police as having been effected in various parts of the'city. Detection was difficult, but as time wore on it was not so hopeless at at ilrst appeared. Finally the arrest was made of a man of about 32 years of age. The next step was to recover the property, which consisted of rings, watches, silver cigar- i ctte cases, odd coins, pictures, clothing, boots and other articles. Most of the plunder was recovered. It had been concealed on the reclaimed land beyond Waterloo Quay, and in places familiar to the detectives, The dates of the burglaries were as follows:—Mr.-David Williamson, Grant road, March 18; Mr. Philip Nathan, Hill street, and Mr. W. C. Casquoine, Hill street, March 22; Mr. C. P. Knight, Bolton street, April 15; Mr. Richard Pilling, Adelaide road, April 13; Mr. N. Jacobs, Thorndpn Quay, April 17; and Mr. Algar Williams, Hobsbn street, May 3. Coins of value, which had been stolen from the Newtown Museum, were also recovered, as well as large quantities of plates cut from books in the Wellington Public Library.
