AIRSHIP FOR THE POLE. By cable.—Press Association. —Copyright London, May 10. Sit Ernest Shackleton has been promised, in response to his appeal, valuable supplies for Dr. Mawson's equipment. A West Australian has contributed £IOOO and Madame MeHia £IOO, making the Mawson fund £9OOO.
Lieut. Hugh Watkins, of the Essex Regiment, will be pilot of Dr. Mawson's monoplane, which will be manufactured by Viekeas and Maxim, and have a screen to protect the pilot and passengers from cold. The monoplane will be employed in mapping and surveying. It will take at the southernmost depot sufficient petrol for a single flight to the Pole and a return to the depot, namely, 250 miles. ANOTHER DONATION. Received 11, 11.15 p.m. London, May 11. Mr. W. A. Horn, of Adelaide, who i? visiting London, has contributed f 1000 to Dr. Mawson's expedition.
