Thousands of Kabyles attacked General Monier's camp at Belarosi, three kilometres from Salee,'and although nte£ by a heavy rifle and artillery fire, the natives renewed the attack three times, but finally retreated towards Salee, whence a French detachment opened fire. After a desperate resistance the Kabvles retreated, losing thirty killed and many wounded.
It is reported that the troops at Fez made a sortie and beat the rebels, and that the stronghold of Najala Faravi, three miles to the south-west, was captured.
A Paris message states tliat 2000 mules and 1000 camels were shipped to Casablanca from Algeria during the past fortnight and went inland. Major Brularas' column is still at Sidi Ayash, 20 miles from Rabat. HEAVY LOSSES. Received 11, 11.15 p.m. Tangier, May 11. After their defeat outside Fez,, cabled yesterday, the Benimtirs left 80 dead. GERMANY REASSURED. Received 11, 11.15 p.m. Berlin, May 11. Britain and Russia have reassured Germany regarding France's action in Morocco.
