REV. MR NORTH ON PICTURES

■ WHAT SORT OF CENSOR f The appointment of a censor of cinematograph films was strongly advocated by the Rev. J. J. North In Christchurch last week. He stated that, except in the case of municipal theatres, the public have no guarantee that something objectionable will not be introduced at picture show*. When he was in Palmerston North re-' cently, he was informed that a municipal officer there inspected the dims used in the municipal theatre, and had to reject large numbers sent out from the Old Country. A proper officer should be appointed, he urges, and he should be not a prude, but " a wholesome, happy man, who knows honest laughter from dirty laughter."
