HAS AMUNDSEN STARTED? By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Cliristiania, April 20. Captain Amundsen's report states that eight men and 113 dogs landed on the barrier. The dash for the South would begin diflcctly the Fram departed. Sir Ernest Shackleton, interviewed, said that if Amundsen started on February 15 he would be able to sledge until mid-April, but it would be impossible to cross the crevasses in the Beardmorc Glacier in the darkness and with a probable temperature of 100 degrees below zero. It was possible that Amundsen's message meant the laying of depots to the South. THE FRAM'S FARTHEST SOUTH. Buenos Aires, April 20. The From, Amundsen's exploring ship, reached latitude 78cle<r. 41min., the furthest south of any ship.
