'', TARAXAKI ASSOCIATIOX. i ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki . Hockey Association was held in the Town j Hall, New Plymouth, last night. Mr.' t P. P. In moving its adoption, the t chairman stated that the Association , had been particularly fortunate in its t secretaries, who had always done their best to husband the finances of the Association. It spoke volumes for the care and economy exercised by the present secretary, that the balance now was larger than at any time in the history of the Association. During discussion on the report, re- ,' gret was expressed at the apathy shown I in New Plymouth in connection with hockey matters. ! The Hawera delegate reported that the' . Hawera Club would be entering two teams, and a telegram was received from Kaponga m connection with a club from , that township joining the association. l The matter of raising funds to assist [ in financing a travelling team was also t discussed, but nothing definite was ari rived at. !| The report and balance-sheet wero then adopted. The secretary of the New Zealand !' Hockey Council advised that the New i South Wales Hockey Association would I he unable to send a touring team to New Zealand.

j Notification was received from the I Carrington Road Hockey Club that they were unable to enter a team this year. Officers were elected for the ensuing year as follows:—President, Mr. F. P. Avery as secretary, reference was made to the excellent services given by him as secretary, and it was unanimously resolved that he be voted .£3 3s with which to purchase some memento of the Association's appreciation. The question of the Western Sub-As-sociation having a delegate on the Management Committee was brought forward, but it wa.s pointed out that, according to the rules of the New Zealand Association, a sub-association could have a seat at the meetings of its affiliated association, but no vote. It was resolved that entries close on Thursday, May 4, and cup fixtures commence on May 25. Messrs. Wood and Avery were appointed to'draw up fixtures. With a view to popularising the game, it was suggested that New Plymouth and Ingiewood should play a match at Waitara. The Kaponga Club wa.s affiliated to the Association.
