A' good start. Desert Ro3e and Beverage' were the first to move, and when once fairly going Desert Rose led by twu lengths from Lady Medallist, followed, by Beverage and Comedy King. kt\ seven furlongs Desert Rose was three lengths ahead of Lady Medallist and Beverage. There was little change to the half-mile, where Desert Rose wasj still three lengths'in the lead of "Lady! Medallist, who was clear of Beverage, Flnvinius and Comedy King. Before the, three furlongs were reached Lady Medallist dropped back to fourth, and Desert Rose led into the straight from Malt King and Flavinius. I Sydney Stakes.—Jacamar 1, Borrosovl 2, Ladies' Man 3. Eight starters. Ladies' Man carried a bunched field well into the straight, where Jacamar and Borrosov came with a rush. A good finish. Won by three lengths. Time, lmin 30sec. Cumberland Stakes.—Trafalgar 1, Byplay 2, Cornedv King 3. Also started: Bibbonluke ami Morula. Bibbenluke led round the bend, with Comedy King and Trafalgar close. At the mile Comcilv King and Trafalgar were two lengths in front of Moorilla and Byplay, with Bibbenluke beat, it off. Before reaching the seven furlongs Trafalgar went to the front, and five furlongs from home led Comedy King by a length, with Byplay handy. Comedy King led into the straight from Byplay, but Trafalgar again got on terms at the distance, and coming away, won bv a length and a quarter, ten lengths between second and third horses.
