AUSTRALIAN CLERGY

PLEA FOR THE NATIVE BORN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, April 19. Archdeacon Crossley, the new Bishop of Auckland, in an interview, held very strongly the opinion that Australiaa should draw minister recruits from Australia, not from abroad. It was an advantage to Australia to bring out picked men to do social work such as teaching, hut the great majority came to do hard, thankless work in the back blocks. The ministry should be officered by young men bred and born to the conditions of life, and quite equal to the task from every point of view.
