THE NEW DEFENCE SCHEME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Reefton, Wednesday. The compulsory defence scheme has been met with great enthusiasm at Reefton. General Godley inspected the young men offering, and expressed great pleasure at the stamp of citizen. A committee has raised £4OO towards the erection of a new drill hall, and the local Rugby Union gave £l5O. Government will be asked to find the remainder. The townspeople are taking up the scheme with avidity.
