THE HOVERS CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Rovers Football Club was held in the Council Chambers last evening. Mr. Cbappcll occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The balance-sheet showed a fair credit balance, and the report stated that the club had had a very successful season. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. A. McHardy; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. E. Blundell, A. H. Glas- ' gow, A. R. Standish, J. Paton, B. H. Chaney, N. K. McDiarmid, J. C. Nichol- . son, J. B. Roy, J. H. Quilliam, G. Weldon and Dra. Fookes and Blackley; captain, Mr. A. C. Thompson; secretary, | Mr. A. Grant; delegate to Saturday . Football Association, Mr. A. C. Thompson; management committee, captain ' and secretary ex officio, and Messrs. D. , Webster, lan Grant, and R. D. Coker; , selection committee, captain and Messrs. ■ D. Webster and R. D. Coker.
The annual Teport stated that the standard of play had improved a great deal during the past season, the club being runners-up in the Sole Cup competition. The meeting was unanimously in favor of the Saturday Football Association affiliating with the Taranaki Rugby Union, and the club's delegate was instructed to vote accordingly. ' • , The meeting terminated with a'vote of thanks to the chair. TARANAKI REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Referees' Association was held at the office of the secretary (Mr. A. Smart) last nisht. There were present: Messrs 1 F. T, Rellringer (president) in the chair, ft. Bellringer. in moving their adoption, complimented members on the work done during the year, and' the keen interest displayed bv members of the association, seeing that practieallv all the matehes in the Northern Division were controlled by nine active members. Griffiths and Spurdle, the delegates who had met delegates of the South Taranaki TV f orees' Association at a conference in Str-tford with the Taranaki Rugby Union (represented by Messrs. Buchanan and Chalmers) re amalgamation of tl» associations, reported that it was agreed that it was in the interests of all concerned that the two associations should amalgamate and I form ""ic association to be called the Taranaki Referees' Association, with I headquarters at the same place as the headquarters of the Taranaki Rugby j Union, which is at present Stratford. 1 i The association will be managed by an I executive consisting of two members I each from the Northern and Southern I football divisions, together with a repreI sentative of the Taranaki Rubgy Union. I The report was adopted by the meeting, to take effect from date. Messrs. Spurdle and Griffiths were appointed to i be the northern representatives on the 1 executive, a meeting of which will be held at an early date in Stratford. | Mr. F. Spurdle was appointed delegate to represent the Taranaki Referees' Association at the annual conference of ' New Zealand Referees' Association, to be held in Wellington at Easter.
Messrs. G. Griffiths and A. Smart were elected chairman and secretary respectively of the northern committee, Tt was reported that there would probnblv be several additions to the ranks of Taranaki referees this senson.
