THE DROUGHT BREAKS

GOOD RAIN IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Associatioo. Auckland, Last Night. The drought appears to have been definitely broken. During the last 24 hours 95 points of rain have fallen. .In many places the position was becoming serious, and even now the rain has come too late to save the root crops. Owing to the scarcity of feed the cattle in some of the dairying districts are in poor condition, and in consequence many of the factories will have to close down earlier than usual. However, a good autumn growth is now assured, and if the early frosts do not damage the young grass there should be a plentiful supply of winter feed. In To Kuiti the people who have been depending on tanks for their supply will be much relieved by the rains, for many of them have had to cart their household supply for some weeks past.
